Come imbrigliata in un sistema di videosorveglianza, si svolge una delle tragedie più grandi di tutti i tempi. Le vicende di Amleto e della sua corte prendono forma attraverso i nastri di videosorveglianza delle telecamere installate nel regno. Si scoprirà, poi, che a raccontare al pubblico la storia del principe, attraverso il suo computer, è Orazio, il suo migliore amico. La storia è quella di Shakespeare, il testo è quello integrale, le parole quelle del 1600, l’estetica quella dei nostri giorni. Roma diventa il set dove si svolge l’intera vicenda della corte di Elsinore. In una cornice da reality, in una città che si muove nella sua quotidianità si consuma la tragedia di Amleto senza che il ‘cinema’ alteri il contorno: è nel contemporaneo che prende forma il capolavoro Shakespeariano. La riscrittura avviene solo nelle ambientazioni, la trasposizione a Roma fa sì che l’immortalità del pensiero e del linguaggio di Shakespeare possano parlare anche all’Italia di oggi, di questo nostro tempo. Basterà che Polonio si aggiri fuori al Parlamento per far immediatamente pensare a un deputato di oggi; che Amleto monologhi tra le strade del Pigneto per far pensare ad un hipster genialoide e frainteso; che il re e la regina incontrino Rosencrantz e Guildestern in un bar di villa Borghese per richiamare alla mente gli incontri informali e decisionali della politica e delle dirigenze italiane; che lo spettacolo teatrale messo su da Amleto per “catturare l’anima del Re” abbia inizio, per capire quanto la messa in scena delle proprie azioni possa avere ancora un potere catartico e così via. Come direbbe il principe: Amici, siate i benvenuti ad Elsinore. As if harnessed in a video surveillance system, one of the greatest tragedies of all time takes place. Stories of Hamlet and of his court take shapes trough the security camera footages, installed all over the kingdom. Later we’ll find out that who had narrated all the story of the Denmark Prince to the public is Orazio, Hamlet’s best friend. The story is that of Shakespeare's Hamlet, the text is the integral text, the words the words of the 1600s, the aesthetics of nowadays. Rome becomes the set where the whole story of the Elsinore court takes place. In a reality setting, in a city that moves itself in its daily life, the tragedy of Hamlet takes place, without the 'cinema' altering the outline in the contemporary Shakespearean masterpiece takes shape. The setting in Rome and the rewriting, which takes place only in the settings, mean that the immortality of Shakespeare's thought and language can also speak to today's Italy, the our time’s Italy. Polonius will wander outside the parliament that will immediately think of a deputy of today, Hamlet monologues in the streets of Pigneto to make think of a Hipster genialoide and misunderstood of our times, the King and Queen meet Rosencrantz and Guildestern, the two friends of Hamlet, in a bar in Villa Borghese, who will come to mind the informal and determined meetings of Italian politics and directors, that the theatrical show put on by Hamlet, to 'capture the soul of the King' begins to understand how much the 'staging' of one's actions can still have a cathartic power, will be enough. And as the prince would say: Friends, welcome to Elsinore.
