PRESS RELEASE MAY 17

ROMA WEB FEST FLIES TO CANNES!

ANNOUNCED THE PROGRAM OF THE 4TH EDITION AT THE ITALIAN PAVILLON

In the frame of the Festival de Cannes 2016 at the Italian Pavillon, has been presented the program of the 4th edition of Roma Web Fest (the first italian international festival dedicated to web series and fashion films).

Next to the festival Director Janet De Nardis, intervened Luciano Sovena e Cristina Priarone (President and General Manager of Roma Lazio Film Commission), as well as Maria Giuseppina Troccoli representing Mibact. All they agreed that web series, now fairly inside the audiovisual market, deserve to be awarded with the proper attention reserved to all the international cultural products.

One of the most important initiative of this year concernes the ever closer union with the world of videogames. This is the reason of the new collaboration between Roma Web Fest and Vigamus (Videogames foundation of Rome). With the support of Vigamus, Roma Web Fest will organize a convention, during the next edition, in which famous youtubers, well known by the young audience, will have an important role. Regarding this, it is highly anticipated, in the world of interactivity lovers, the event dedicated to the “Excape Martina” project, in collaboration with the filmmaker Riccardo Milanesi. In this project, all the participants of Roma Web Fest, who will join the “game”, will be a part of the creation of the first episode of a web serie, made by the Facebook contact with “Martina”, the main character, who will have to run away from his pursuer, thanks to the help of users.

Another interesting new feature is the intervention of important companies, that reward the creativity of the Roma Web Fest filmmakers with great prizes, such as Janssen (https://www.romawebfest.it/rwf/senza-categoria/bando-janssen/) who invests 30.000,00 Euros to reward the creativity of young authors.

Part of the meeting was dedicated to the initiative of Roma Lazio Film Commisssion and Regione Lazio which together with Roma Web Fest have launched a competition to reward web series pilots that promote the territory of Lazio and Rome, through the exaltation of the area, crafts, food, art, legends,… The winner, in addition to 5.000,00 Euros, will have the opportunity to see produced its own web serie.

Finally, with Anica and Ice this year, for the first time in Italy, we will have a section of webserial products dedicated to Asia.
