Competition announcement for the participation of Fashion Films at the Roma Web Fest 2018

This is the sixth official announcement for participation in the contest at the Roma Web Fest 2018 edition.

The contest is free to enter and it ensures that each participating member becomes automatically associated with ANCEF, the National Association of Creatives and Filmmakers (an association promoting the Roma Web Fest).

The competition intends to unite young Italian and foreign filmmakers with major Italian television and film productions, as well as the most important international labels, creating an event that will promote a new model of reconciliation between the film market, the television market, and the authors / productions that use the web as a mode of production and distribution.


For only the purposes of this competition notice, the following definitions shall apply:

– “Fashion films” are audiovisual products characterized by an element of drama or emotional impact centered around fashion (a theme of fashion, a subject of fashion);
– The competing fashion films cannot be longer than 15 minutes;

– “Authors” are individuals residing in Italy or abroad who are at least eighteen years of age;

– The term “audiovisual production company” means a company based in Italy or abroad whose main corporate purpose is the production of audiovisual products.


2.1 The competition intends to select 2 fashion film winners, one for each of the different categories: Best Fashion Film and Best School Fashion Film. Cash prizes and visibility in trade magazines.


3.1 Registration for the Roma Web Fest 2018 contest opens May 30th and closes on September 30, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

3.3 At the moment of registration, the fashion films can be voted on by the users online at, and until September 30, 2018 at 6:00 pm.

3.4 Fashion films can be registered for the contest by authors, fashion schools / schools involved with the audiovisual world, and audiovisual

production companies both in Italy and abroad; At the time of registration, authors must be 18 years or older.

3.5 To enter the contest, authors and companies must claim to be the proprietors and exclusive owners of all rights to the economic use of their fashion film, and they must accept the disclaimer regarding the content of their fashion film. They will also have to declare that their fashion film is original and does not infringe upon the rights of any third parties; in this regard, the Roma Web Fest and ANCEF is indemnified against any claims made by anyone. At the moment of registration, the Roma Web Fest is authorized to publish the registered fashion film on its own website (the video may remain unpublished if you do not want to participate in the Online Audience Award). The Roma Web Fest is authorized to project the competing fashion film at the finals of the Roma Web Fest on one of the days of the festival (November 28, 29, and 30, 2018). The Roma Web Fest is also authorized to use the names of the fashion film and the actors, directors, writers, and technicians associated with the film, as well as use extrapolated images from the fashion film or connected to it, to publicize the festival itself.

3.6 The fashion film must be uploaded in the designated section of the website This section of the site will be open to the public starting on May 30, 2018 and will remain open until the deadline indicated in the notice.

3.7 The fashion film that is registered for the Roma Web Fest must have been created within the time frame of January 1, 2014 to September 30, 2018.

3.8 Each author, school or company can enter more than one fashion film to the contest.

3.9 Any single fashion film may be registered for the contest in only one category: Fashion film or School fashion film.

3.10 Foreign works not in English must be subtitled in English or Italian.

3.11 Fashion films will be deemed accepted at the time of publication on the website , or , and after verification of the regularity of the registration by the Committee of the Roma Web Fest.

3.12 By entering the competition, you accept a subscription to the newsletter of the Roma Web Fest.


4.1 The selection of the competing projects will be carried out by the Technical Committee of the Roma Web Fest. Finalists will be announced by October 5, 2018.

4.2 The finalists will have access to the finals on November 29, 2018 at La Casa del Cinema, where they will be judged, after a screening of the film, by a qualified panel.

4.3 The qualified panel will be composed of leading figures of the world of fashion.

4.4 The members of the qualified panel will be named by September 30, 2018.

4.5 If two candidates tie in a finalist spot, both may be admitted to the finals.


5.1 The Italian and foreign fashion films will be evaluated according to the same criteria, on the basis of the following requisites: high artistic value, technical quality of the film (understood as the value of the technical and technological components of the film project), potential to appeal to an international audience, technical and professional competence of the proponents, innovation of the language, and web-


5.2 The submitted fashion film may deal with any subject, as long as it is not against the law and does not prove detrimental or offensive to human rights and the dignity of the person, or otherwise contrary to moral and ethical principles.


6.1. The selection will be divided into three phases:

a) Admission Phase of the projects, which will occur if the proposed projects meet the requirements of this agreement. This phase will be carried out autonomously by the artistic director of the festival.

b) First Selection Phase:
The fashion film finalists will be selected by the Technical Committee of the Roma Web Fest – Janet De Nardis (Roma Web Fest director), Marina Di Guardo (writer/influencer), Laura Gramigna (Director of the Lusso Roma Academy), Alessandro Saggioro (Associate Professor of La Sapienza – University of Rome – History of Religions and Sciences of Fashion and Costume) and announced October 5, 2018 on the website.

c) The eight fashion film finalists will be voted on by the qualified panel in the hall during the gala event on November 29, 2018 at La Casa del Cinema of Rome, and there will be one winner for each category. Fashion film finalists will have access to the final stage of the competition that will take place during the Roma Web Fest 2018 on November 28/29/30, 2018.

6.2. The fashion film finalists will be announced through publication on the websites , and by October 5, 2018.

6.3 The fashion film receiving the most votes from the online users (voting will close on September 30, 2018 at 6:00 pm) will be awarded during the gala event on November 29, 2018. The poll provides that

each user can vote – from one to five stars – by pressing the button corresponding to the number of stars (score) you want to assign; Each user can only vote once.

6.4 On November 29, 2018, the qualified panel, during the gala event, will reveal the fashion film winners of the two categories by naming the winners of the Roma Web Fest 2018 and the fashion film most voted on by the online users, giving them each a spot at the award ceremony. The date of the award ceremony could be changed.

6.5 The assessments and final judgements of the panel are unappealable.


7.1 The participants in the contest authorize the Roma Web Fest to promote the submitted fashion films, as well as project the films during the days of the event finals and at other secondary events of the Roma Web Fest.

7.2 The participants in the contest ensure the proper availabilty of the materials registered, and agree that the Roma Web Fest is not responsible for any missing or incomplete / not finalized submissions. Participants also agree that the Roma Web Fest is not held accountable in regards to the contents of any web series that are registered or sent in which are unable to be viewed.

7.3 The winners of the competition must be expressly mentioned in the promotional and advertising materials printed or published online after the competition, saying that their fashion film has won the Roma Web Fest 2018.


8.1 The applications to participate will be disqualified if:
• they are submitted past the submission date deadline (it will be based on the day that Roma Web Fest receives the completed application);
• they are not signed;
• they do not meet all the requirements of this agreement;
• the contents of the works presented prove to be contrary to law or public order, or they are harmful and abusive to human rights and the dignity of the person, or otherwise contrary to moral and ethical principles.


All disputes are under the jurisdiction of the court of Rome.
